Security Questions

Your privacy is important to us, and we work hard to keep your personal data as secure as possible. Check out these questions below and see what we’re doing to protect your information.
Q: How do I know if my browser can protect my private information?
A:Your browser should support 128-bit encryption. If you are using Internet Explorer, select “Help” at the top of the browser window and click on “About Internet Explorer” to see if your version supports 128-bit security programming.
Q: How does CVS Caremark ensure the security of my prescription information?
A:On Caremark.com, we require you to use a browser with the latest security technology, 128-bit encryption, to ensure that your credit/debit card and personal information are safely transmitted and received. When contacting us by phone, we verify the identity of each and every caller by requiring a name, ID number, date of birth and the number or name of a previously filled CVS Caremark prescription.
Q: Is it safe for me to give my credit/debit card and personal information online?
A:We take every practical precaution necessary to protect your confidential information. In addition to requiring the latest encryption technology, we do not redisplay your full credit/debit card number on your computer screen or printouts.
Q: Do Caremark.com and the CVS Caremark phone ordering system comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)?
A:We take your privacy very seriously. We comply with HIPAA guidelines and continually monitor and review our policies as HIPAA is revised. Recent enhancements to the system have increased the security and privacy of your prescription information and by requiring a login for orders via Caremark.com, we allow individual members to limit access to their prescription information.
Q: How can I get a browser with 128-bit encryption technology?
A:Contact your Internet provider or visit the home page of your browser. Upgrades are usually available for download, free of charge.
Q: Is Caremark.com a secure site?
A:Once you have logged on to Caremark.com, the information transmitted between you and CVS Caremark on our secured pages is encrypted, which helps us prevent unauthorized parties from accessing your data.
Q: How can I tell if my connection to Caremark.com is secure?
A:When logged on to Caremark.com, you’ll see a security icon, usually a padlock, in the lower right-hand corner of your screen. If the symbol is there, it means that the data you submit on that page is encrypted. Encrypted data helps us prevent unauthorized parties from accessing your data while it is being transferred to CVS Caremark.
Q: What does the FoundSecure™ seal on the bottom of the Caremark.com website mean?
A:To earn the right to display the FoundSecure seal on Caremark.com, we passed a series of security tests administered by Foundstone, Inc., a leading provider of online security assessments and vulnerability protection. We also actively protect the security of your information and successfully complete ongoing testing by Foundstone, Inc. – including monthly testing and annual re-certification.
