- A:Each year, millions of CVS/caremark members receive their prescribed medicines while saving money on each and every refill. At the same time, over 1,200 plan sponsors provide the most cost-efficient and comprehensive prescription benefit plans through CVS/caremark. We place a premium on convenience, offering members the choice of getting their medicines at more than 64,000 participating local retail pharmacies or through the CVS/caremark Mail Service Pharmacy™.
- Q: Why should I encourage my patients to use mail service?
- A:Our mail service program provides a convenient and cost-effective way for your patients to order up to a 90-day supply of eligible long-term medicines for delivery to a location of their choice. By using our mail service program, your patients minimize trips to the pharmacy while maximizing savings on their refills. With most benefit plans, up to a 90-day supply is dispensed by mail service for the cost of one copayment.
- Q: What considerations are there for writing prescriptions that will go to mail service?
- A:In order for your patients to make full use of our mail service program, write one prescription for up to a 30-day supply for immediate needs, to be filled at a local pharmacy. A second prescription will be needed for the mail service pharmacy program with up to a 90-day supply of medicines along with the appropriate number of refills. On average, prescriptions are written with three refills to cover a year’s worth of medicine.
