BD Insulin Syringes with the BD Ultra-Fine™ needle Consumer-Level Recall

5/26/2017

On May 26, 2017, Becton Dickinson issued a consumer-level recall of BD Insulin Syringes with the BD Ultra-Fine needle 1/2 mL 12.7 mm 30 gauge (catalog reference 328466). This recall was issued because some polybags that contain BD Ultra-Fine needle 1/2 mL 12.7 mm 30 gauge (catalog reference 328466)are incorrectly labeled as BD Ultra-Fine needle 1/2 mL 8 mm 31 gauge (catalog reference 328468). The shelf carton and case carton are correctly labeled as BD Insulin Syringes with the BD Ultra-Fine needle 1/2 mL 12.7 mm 30 gauge. Using a 12.7 mm needle for injection when an 8 mm needle was intended could result in an increased risk of an inadvertent intramuscular injection which may lead to unanticipated hypoglycemia.

This recall affects lot number 6291768. The affected lots went into distribution on March 3, 2017.
