On April 29, 2021, Acella Pharmaceuticals, LLC issued a consumer-level recall of NP Thyroid® tablets. This recall was issued because the testing found the affected lots to be sub potent. The products contain less than 90% of the labeled amount of Levothyroxine (T4) or Liothyronine (T3).
This may represent a potential health hazard or safety risk to patients using product affected by this recall.

Acella Pharmaceuticals, LLC advises that patients who are currently taking recalled NP Thyroid® should not discontinue use without contacting their healthcare provider for further guidance and/or a replacement prescription. CVS Caremark is in the process of contacting patients and prescribers to advise them of this recall. We are encouraging patients who are taking NP Thyroid® tablets to contact their prescriber.
